Very interesting work on the background. Personally, I think leaving the full moon dominating over it creates kind of a weird effect, but that might have been your intention. That said, I really like the work the color scheme, and the way you mixed more precise brushwork for the character with the loose strokes for the background. Favorited!
Ah very true and thank you for taking the time to crit my piece always cool seeing what people have to say I do agree through the moon is a weird looking made it really sharp. Thanks again happy holidays -Jamie
CONGRATULATION DEAR FRIEND You are in THE BEST OF-DECEMBER 2011...... FABULOUS NEW IMAGES ON THE TOP selected this month I invite you to see IN GALLERY FOLDERS the : BEST OF -THIS MONTH ..............[link]
I love the way the background fades, It has a beautiful watercolor feel to it from which the knight stands out nicely. The eyes is quickly drawn away from the figure to the sweeping background though... going itself on a journey.
I'm here on behalf of I noticed your piece was in the critique area so i thought id give it a shot.
I have to say your piece is quite imaginative and very well constructed, i really like the way you colored the background and the knight, it really gives you a sense of the fantastical yet its realistic enough to leave us wit ha sense of comfort i also love the concept of the knight being in a journey into dreams it is well portrayed and very understandable but yet very open ended as for constructive critique the only thing that i may suggest is adding a bit more detail to the background aside from the everything looks great, and by details i mean like adding a little bit of lines to create a mountain range or something of the sort.
Thanks for the kind words they are very encouraging! It's so awesome hearing other peoples ends on one of my paintings very interesting almost gives me another view on the whole process. have a good one thanks again -Jamie
I'm here on behalf of because your piece was in the group's critique requested folder. I love this painting! The shading on his armor especially looks fantastic. The only thing I would change is the scale of his left hand. It looks like it's the same size as his right hand, so the perspective doesn't quite match that of his left foot. Don't take me to seriously, cause I can't paint. At all.
